Shhh! 5 Painting Tips Nobody Talks About!
For all ages, painting has always been a fun and exciting project, especially when enjoyed with family or friends. It is a way to bond, a way to express yourself, and a way to bring your creative ideas to life! Are you new to painting or need to sharpen your skills? Here are some tips that will help!
1. CHOOSING THE TYPE OF PAINT
The tools you use play a significant role in your art. The best beginner-friendly paints are watercolours or acrylic paints. Watercolours dry very fast and wash off easily on stained surfaces or garments. On the other hand, acrylics are likely to stain your garments, so extra precautions need to be taken when using them!
2. COLOUR OPTIONS
You can create any colour known to man with just 5 colours: black, white, and the three primary colours (red, yellow, and blue). Choosing the right colours is essential to making your masterpiece, therefore, familiarize yourself with the colour wheel. The colour wheel has the 3 primary colours which are further broken down into secondary and tertiary colours. Did you know this?
3. CORRECTING MISTAKES
You made a mistake on your canvas? Not to worry! Wait for the paint to dry, then paint a thick layer of white over the mistake. If you need to amend the whole artwork, you can paint the entire canvas white. You may need to do a few coats depending on your painting. After it dries, keep painting like nothing happened.
4. PAINTING TECHNIQUES
To capture texture in your paintings, you need to use different brush stroke techniques. A good example is gradient blending, which helps transitioning the value of colours. This can be captured using a starter brush like a round brush. You can get your set from Kasuku today!
5. CLEANING YOUR BRUSHES
It is important to keep your tools clean, so they last long. Dried paint ruins the bristles making them stiff and unusable. After your paint session, blot your brush using tissue paper, then wash it with soap and water. For long painting sessions, soak the paint brush in water to keep it soft. Doing this keeps your paintbrushes in good condition for excellent results.
