We have all heard familiar expressions like “His heart is made of stone” or “Life is a rollercoaster.” However, let’s explore some more distinctive phrases that will leave people wondering where you learned them.
- Storm in a teacup: When someone describes a situation as a “storm in a teacup,” they mean it’s a big fuss over a minor issue.
Example: “The entire argument over which team is the best was merely a storm in a teacup.” - Skin of my teeth: This phrase is used when someone is barely managing to cope with a challenging situation.
Example: “Life has been coming at me so fast lately. I feel like I’m hanging on by the skin of my teeth.” - Leave no stone unturned: This expression means to search exhaustively for something or someone.
